Lochy Maybury

Lochy Maybury is a freelance actor, playwright, producer, clown and founder of Back Porch Theatre. Since graduating from Flinders University Drama Centre, he has worked extensively in the independent theatre sector as well as in film and television.

His theatre credits include Melancholy Play, Man in a Bag and Business Unfinished, as well as numerous projects with ActNow Theatre including Responding to Racism, Speak Out and The Clock. Responding to Racism is a multi-award winning project that has toured to regional and metropolitan areas since 2014 and performed to hundreds of students annually.

His television and film credits include ANZAC Girls, Changed Forever, The Flip Side and Pine Gap, alongside web series Dead Centre, slated for release in 2020.

In 2014 he undertook the ATYP Fresh Ink Playwriting Mentorship, under the tutelage of Nicki Bloom (Vale, Little Bird, Land and Sea). That same year he was co-coordinator of Back Porch’s acting mentorship program, FloorPlay, funded through Helpmann Academy.

In 2016 Lochy wrote and produced Schmidt, his professional debut play directed by Teddy Dunn (Red Sky Morning, Alice and Peter Grow Up). In 2017 he wrote, directed and acted in his debut solo show Untitled, Unpolished. Later that same year he performed in Tom Christophersen’s Business Unfinished for Feast Festival.

In 2018 Lochy underwent training in Pochinko clown at the Manitoulin Conservatory for Creation and Performance in Ontario, Canada. That same year he undertook a theatre residency with Ghost River Theatre, a Calgary-based performance company as ‘The Documentarian’ and assistant stage manager for their new work The Intuition Project. Lochy is the recipient of a Slingsby Mini Residency and will be developing his solo clown show Moof’s Adventures for Fringe 2020.
