ActNow Theatre welcomes expressions of interest from people who care deeply about social justice, arts and culture, and creating meaningful change.

Please note: a role on the ActNow Theatre board is a voluntary position.

We maintain an ongoing EOI register and meet with prospective Board members as future opportunities arise. 

Serving on the Board of ActNow Theatre is an opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction, governance and long-term sustainability of an award-winning social justice theatre company based on Kaurna Yerta. Our Board members are expected to contribute their time, expertise and networks to amplify our reach, visibility and voice on behalf of the communities we serve, and help us achieve our strategic and financial targets.

Skills and interests

We seek Board members who reflect the diversity of our communities and have skills and interests in the following areas:

  • Arts Engagement: Artists or arts champions, supporting diverse artists, and understanding theatre production.

  • Community Advocacy: Cultivating authentic relationships with marginalised groups and ensuring equity-focused practices.

  • Fundraising: Securing philanthropic funding and grants, and driving grassroots donor campaigns.

  • Network Activation: Connecting the company to corporate sponsors, venues, and influential community partners.

  • Marketing & PR: Building audiences and securing media coverage using low-budget digital strategies.

  • Financial & Legal Governance: Managing tight non-profit budgets, compliance, and strategic long-term planning.

Commitment

Board members are expected to:

  • Attend Board meetings once every two months (approx. 1 hour)

  • Contribute around 4 hours per month for preparation and governance tasks

  • Attend ActNow Theatre events where possible

Meetings are held once every two months at 5pm, alternating between Wednesday and Thursday, and take place in person and/or online.
