The Arts Pathway Program Returns for 2022

The 2021 participants for the Arts Pathway program are moving around on a well-lit stage. In one corner, an artist plays the piano and a photographer captures the group at work.

ActNow Theatre invites Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts to apply for the 2022 Arts Pathway Program and develop the tools and networks that they need to gain entry into the sector.

The Arts Pathway Program provides an opportunity for First Nations people to immerse themselves in the performing arts and build their professional networks in the industry. Over the course of 5 days, participants undertake a range of workshops in theatre, dance, film, writing and more to build a foundational understanding of the performing arts landscape. Each participant is supported in the development of a short work of their own and is given the opportunity to share their talent with a community of key industry professionals.

2022 marks the 7th year of the program which is led by a First Nations artist and supported by ActNow’s Associate Artist Nathan May. This year’s program will run from 28 November to 2 December 2022 and members of the new cohort will have the opportunity to tour organisations such as the State Theatre Company SA, Flinders University, SA Film Corporation, and the Flinders Drama Centre.

Looking back upon the program in 2021 a previous participant reflected:
All of the workshops gave me something to think about and I appreciated the opportunity to be ‘up close’ to those people and to be able to ask questions.’

Registrations for the Arts Pathway Program are now open and close Friday 28 October 2022.
