About the Facilitators
Alexis West, a Birra Gubba, Wakka Wakka, South Sea Islander, Caucasian woman living and learning on Permangk and Kaurna Country’s for almost 25 years. Written and collaborated with No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability, Karrikarinya Theatre Collective, Kurruru Youth Arts, State Theatre Company South Australia, Yirra Yaakin, Act Now Theatre Company, Vital Statistix, Slingsby Theatre and Theatre Republic.
Written/directed short documentaries NITV/SBS. Published in ‘Growing Up Aboriginal in Australia’, ‘Mindshare’, ‘Ora Nui’, ‘Our Mob’ ‘Spirit Festival Catalogues’, translated into Polish for ‘Poetiks’ most recently in ‘The Rock Remains’. Play HOUSE ARREST commissioned for Yirramboi 2025 staged sharing. SA Literary Award Winner: Tangkanungku Pintyanthi Fellowship.

Phillip Kavanagh (he/they) is a queer playwright who lives and works on Kaurna Yerta. Phillip holds a PhD, Masters and Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours) from Flinders University, as well as a Graduate Diploma of Dramatic Art (Playwriting) from NIDA. Phillip has been awarded the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award, Jill Blewett Playwright’s Award, STCSA Young Playwrights’ Award and Colin Thiele Creative Writing Scholarship. From 2019-2020, Phillip was a NEXT STAGE Resident Writer at Melbourne Theatre Company. Phillip’s plays include Jesikah (STCSA), Deluge (Tiny Bricks / Brink / Adelaide Festival), Replay (Griffin), As One (Tiny Bricks), a new adaptation of Molière’s Tartuffe (Brink / STCSA), a stage adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s The Bridge of San Luis Rey (Brink / AFC / STCSA Stateside), and a co-reimagining of A Christmas Carol with Elise Esther Hearst, A Very Jewish Christmas Carol (Melbourne Theatre Company).
