In this workshop Michèle will cover the basics of scoping and pricing your work as an artist, including:

  • what do I want to generate and achieve with my creative paid work?

  • what are my work 'products'?

  • how do I work out my rate?

  • what tools can help me calculate different rates for different projects?

  • what are my bottom lines and non-negotiables?

This workshop is perfect for emerging professional artists, can also benefit established artists who struggle with the business part of the job or just need a refresher, and also anyone considering the possibilities of a career in the arts.

about the facilitator

Living with disability, Michèle Saint-Yves is a multi-award-winning creative who primarily writes for performance–stage, screen and poetry–as well as directs.

Since 2015, Michèle has worked as an Arts Access Coordinator and is a certified Audio Describer. In 2024 she became SA’s only certified Screen Australia Access Coordinator and is a certified ScreenWell Psychosocial Safety in Screen Industry Practitioner.

Michèle graduated as a Medical Scientist (majoring in Neuroscience) in 2020, holds an Adv Dip in Professional Writing (majoring in Writing for Performance) , a Master of Business Administration (majoring in business economics), an Adv Dip in Human Resource Management, Frontline Management Consultant and Securities Investment Certificate and Bachelors in Arts and Social Sciences.
